The Girl in the Field

The girl has rushed home now, it turns
out there is one: it’s dark and broken
and choking out lies. The door is hanging
off hinges; the wind kicks a shutter
smashing a clapboard. Shadows pass
behind curtains, torn and moth eaten,
persuading the girl to sit down inside.
